More often than not, in fact, the computers controlling the new electric cars break down, causing them to get right out of control and putting the lives of both passengers and passers-by at risk. This is why the EX-Driver unit has been set up, bringing together the last people who know how to drive those quaint old petrol-fuelled cars, the only driving pros who can restore order when Artificial Intelligence breaks down. Lisa and Lorna, one fiery and irritable and the other sweet and fascinating, make an apparently unbeatable team, though routine has managed to make even an exciting job like theirs boring. The days are livened up by Souichi who, though a mere youngster, has an almost perfect driving technique. This splendid series of OAV with six episodes under the Bandai Visual label will take you into that fantastic world of cars so dear to Kosuke Fujishima, the acclaimed author of "Oh my Goddess!". We certainly knew this great "mangaka" was interested in cars, but in "EX-Driver" he really has gone to town. With their incredible technical and graphic detail and a direction which is truly masterly in its dynamism, the six OAV in the series are easily up to the standard of the best Japanese productions of the last few years and include a sound and music track to satisfy the finest palates.
