The story takes us to the year 2040 A.D. when men and Zentradi have finally achieved lasting peace. However there are still a few fleets of rebel spaceships threatening the various planetary colonies and to fight them the army is experimenting with new Valkyrie fighter planes on the planet Eden. There are two models still in the running: the Shinsei Industries YF-19, equipped with variable-forward-sweep wings and piloted by the expert and daredevil Isamu Dyson; and the General Galaxy YF-21, fitted with an innovative brainwave control system, flown by Gold Goa Bornam.
